Abstract

The transformation of the family structure and destructive trends in society has affected the stereotyped perception of the relationship with the world and the quality of the prototype of relationships with parents. Thus, the problem of the influence of parental figures on the individual brought up in an incomplete family was quite acute. It is considered that once destroyed family reflected in the structure of the family of the next generation. So, studying the process of choosing a partner for marriage, much attention should be paid to the peculiarities of the influence of the images of parents on the vision of the future partner. The purpose of the article is to reveal the peculiarities of the influence of parental images on the formation of the ideal image of a future partner in marriage to men who grow up without a father. To achieve the goal, we have used such methods as: a) theoretical analysis of the original sources that highlight the problem of choosing a partner for marriage and the influence of child-parent relationships on the formation of a model of the future family; b) empirical methods: a free associations method and T. Leary interpersonal relationship test.

The obtained results of the study allow to indicate the readiness of the subjects to study in the future to marry. Despite the positive identification with the parent’s figures, the men surveyed do not want to see the image of a future partner similar to mother’s image. Possibly, this position is associated with a negative perception of the image of the mother, who played the father’s role. It is expedient to assume that it was the fulfillment of the leading role of the mother that influenced the pronounced differentiation of gender roles in the family, where the leading role was given to the man. The father’s absence in bringing up a child and taking a mother leading role played a significant role in the ability to differentiate family roles and to form the integrity of the images of those grown up in an incomplete family. We can conclude that lack in men of growth experience in a full family can conduce idealization of images and the emergence of pathologies in the future.

This article can be useful in practical and scientific work, as it allows to consider in detail the problem of formation of the concept of marriage and family. The work also opens up prospects for further study of the integrity of the image of the family among young people.
