EMPIRICAL RESEARCH OF PECULIARITIES OF DIVERSENT THOUGHT OF STUDENTS – FUTURE PSYCHOLOGISTS

Abstract

Purpose. The purpose of the article is theoretical grounding and empirical study of features of divergent

thinking of psychologists students. The article deals with the psychological analysis of the scientific approaches of modern scientists to the problem of creative thinking of future psychologists. The role of divergent thinking in the professional development of a psychologist is determined.

Methods. For the purpose of the study of creative thinking we used the test of verbal creativity (RAT) by S. Mednik (adaptation by A. Voronin, adult version), the test of creative thinking of E. Torrens “Figured form”, the questionnaire of creativity of D. Johnson, the test of J. Guilford (modified), observations, correlation analysis.

Results. The structure of divergent thinking is presented. It is revealed that divergent thinking serves as a means of expression, is responsible for the creation of original ideas, and is an important element of creative activity. The creative potential of thinking as a professionally important psychologist quality is analyzed. The results of empirical study of the features of divergent thinking of future psychologists are presented. It was found that in terms of speed and flexibility, medium and low levels of thinking productivity in the surveyed students prevail, which indicates a lack of ability to produce ideas in non-standard situations, low ability to generate verbally formulated ideas, inertia or lack of motivation of students. In terms of originality, low intellectual activity is evident. Correlation analysis shows a high degree of correlation between speed and flexibility, flexibility and originality of creative thinking.

Conclusions. The results of the analysis of the features of divergent thinking of students – future psychologists show that for the majority of the examinees there is a characteristic average level of development of creativity, which acts as a manifestation and as an indicator of the level of creative thinking of the individual, and one of the key factors of professional development of the future psychologist.
