PSYCHOLOGICAL SAFETY AS A FACTOR OF SATISFACTION WITH LIFE QUALITY OF HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS’ STUDENTS
Abstract
The aim of the study is to find out the influence of students' psychological safety in higher education institutions on their satisfaction with life quality. The article presents a theoretical analysis of scientific approaches to the definition of the categories “psychological safety” and “satisfaction with life quality”, their structures, functioning mechanisms, factors.
At the empirical stage, the following methods were applied: the questionnaire to find out students' ideas about their socio-psychological safety at the university; the method “Socio-psychological safety of the subject” (SPSS) (T.V. Eksakusto); the questionnaire “The assessment of the level of satisfaction with life quality” (N.E. Vodopyanova).
Results. Based on the results of the empirical study, the students' ideas about socio-psychological safety in the educational environment of the university were revealed; the general level of psychological safety of students has been determined by the parameters “satisfaction/dissatisfaction”, “harmony/disharmony”, “safety/unsafety”. The interconnection between socio-psychological safety and satisfaction with students' life quality has been proved. It has been stated that the psychological safety of students in the educational environment is mainly caused by a sense of protection in the area of interpersonal relations, harmonious relationships, psychological support, that provides the fullness of internal resources of the individual for achieving their purposes.
Conclusions. It has been found out that a high level of subjects' socio-psychological safety positively affects the level of satisfaction with life quality, that is manifested in an effective fulfillment of assigned educational tasks, achievement of life purposes and planning new goals for the future, in a good or satisfactory state of health, feeling of support from the side of relatives and friends, open-mindedness, sincerity and benevolence in communication with others, absence of physical and psychological discomfort, cheerful mood and adequate assessment of reality.
