FOSTERING MANAGERIAL COMPETENCIES IN THE CHIEF OFFICERS OF THE NATIONAL POLICE OF UKRAINE THROUGH THE USE OF PSYCHOTRAINING TECHNOLOGIES: RESEARCH RESULTS

Abstract

Purpose. Determination of effective mechanisms of development of managerial competence of heads of bodies of the National Police in the context of application of psycho-training technologies. The article is devoted to determining the effectiveness of psychological training use aimed at developing the managerial competence of the Ukrainian National Police heads. The elaborated psychological training was directed at developing the managers’ communicative competence, their ability to successfully conduct negotiations and deliver public speeches.

Methods. In order to determine the effectiveness of psychological training, an input and a final psychodiagnosis were performed and the following psychodiagnostic complex was applied: “The Diagnosis of Communicative and Organizational Skills” (COS-2) (V.V. Syniavskyi, B.A. Fedoryshyn), “The Types of Conduct in Conflict” (K. Thomas), R.Cattel’s Polyfactor Method (Form C). The probability of the obtained results was confirmed by the means of mathematical statistics.

Results. The obtained data testify to the high effectiveness level of the elaborated psychological training, aimed at the development of psychological factors of managerial competence of the National Police heads. In particular, as a result of the conducted research, an increase in communicative and organizational abilities level is observed, as well as the development of the participants’ ability to productively handle conflict situations. The development of the ability to emotional self-regulation, the growth of social courage, autonomy, and an increase in tendency towards radical manifestations in managerial activity are also significant results of the training.

Conclusions. As a result of the application of psychological training, the ability of managers to effectively deal with conflict situations increases, as well as the development of their communication and organizational skills. Developed psychological training also has a positive effect on the ability to emotional self-regulation, social courage, responsibility and normative behavior, personal autonomy and radicality in management activities.
