Results. The article considers scientific research and ideas on the substantive and procedural characteristics of social solidarity. Based on the study of this phenomenon in classical and modern foreign and Ukrainian concepts within different scientific discourses and in psychology, an interdisciplinary analysis and identification of socio-psychological aspects of solidarity and prospects for further research. The psychology of large social groups as a theoretical and methodological basis for the study of psychology of social solidarity is presented, its definitions, essential characteristics, types, processes, factors, sociopsychological features of implementation, mechanisms of achievement and maintenance are described, the interpretation of solidarity as cohesion of large groups, as well as the concept of “personal potential of solidarity” as a system of individual differences associated with the intention of cohesion around certain meanings, goals and values. Conclusions. The psychology of social solidarity is relevant in the search for ways to integrate a transformational society and study the features of the new social reality. In our study, solidarity is seen as a specific feature of society that arises spontaneously or managed through the integration of personal potentials of solidarity of most of its members, resulting in convergence of social processes on a common goal and cohesion at large groups. And the personal potential of solidarity is an indicator of personal ability to act freely, actively and consciously in the direction of the subjectively formed value-ideological semantic system and indicates the mobilization capabilities of certain social communities. Prospects for further research are the conceptualization of the personal potential of solidarity and the empirical study of its integrative capabilities as a basis for the convergence of social processes, which may indicate different scenarios of solidarity.
