Purpose. The purpose is to determine the psychological readiness of primary school teachers to interact with somatically impaired students. Methods. To determine the level of formation of the components of psychological readiness of primary school teachers to interact with somatically impaired students, an author’s questionnaire was used, the study was in the nature of a psychological and pedagogical experiment. Results. The available scientific literature emphasizes the priority role of the teacher’s personality to overcome negative trends in the personal development of somatically weakened children and for their successful learning. The study identified what “somatically impaired children” are; what psychological problems may occur in somatically impaired children at school and how often; what is the subjective responsibility for solving the psychological problems of somatically weakened children at school; how teachers can help them; determining the characteristics inherent in such students, and assessing their severity; assessment of one’s own readiness to work with somatically impaired students. Conclusions. According to the study, none of the primary school teachers who participated in it has a high level of psychological readiness to interact with somatically impaired students, most teachers (52,5%) have a sufficient level of readiness. Based on the results of the study, the need to develop a special program of psychological training of primary school teachers to interact with somatically impaired students, which should include both theoretical classes and methods of group and individual work. The direction of such a program is determined in several areas: actualization and development of motivation to interact with somatically weakened students, formation of theoretical knowledge and expansion of ideas about their features, actualization and development of practical skills and skills of effective interaction with them, development of empathy, humanistic orientation of teachers and their ability to reflect.
