TRAINING PROGRAM FOR IMPROVEMENT, ENHANCEMENT AND PRESER- VATION OF PERSONAL WELL-BEING BY STAFF OF THE STATE BORDER GUARD SERVICE OF UKRAINE AND RESULTS OF ITS EMPIRICAL VERIFICATION

Abstract

The orientation of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine to the European standards for ensuring na- tional security at the state border of Ukraine sets new requirements and personalities of the border guards, knowledge, skills, competence, in the states and experiences of which, to a large extent, depends on the reliability of the protection of our country’s borders. The quality of performing professional tasks and the success of professional activity, the commitment to the border authority depends on the experience of the frontier guards of personal well-being both in the personal and professional fields.
Problems and measures to improve, enhance and preserve the personal well-being of border guards remain beyond the attention of researchers, despite being rather interesting both from the point of view of the analysis of the development process and the formation of the personality of the border guard professional in the context of professional activity and from the point of view of life-realization, personal self-efficacy and harmony, motivation, development and self-realization, etc. Also indeterminate are the technological and methodical issues of providing psychological assistance to border guards on the problems of their personal well-being.
A training program for improving, enhancing and preserving the personal well-being experience is developed as a group short-term psychological correction and support program for the personal well-being of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. The training program can be used to improve, enhance and preserve the personal well-being of the staff of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine of different levels of manage- ment, professional orientation and professional qualifications, regardless of the performance of official tasks. It is designed for 37 hours of group work, consists of six interactive exercises and includes an assessment of the personal well-being of the staff of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine before and after the training.
According to the results of the experimental verification of the training program for improvement, en- hancement and preservation of personal psychological well-being of staff of the State Border Guard Service, positive progress has been made in all indicators of personal well-being: personal fulfillment of life, person- al self-efficacy, personal harmony, professional competence and self-realization, professional-organizational motivation, professional growth and achievements, as well as in the overall indicator of personal well-being of border guards.
