COGNITIVE FEATURES OF STUDENTS’ MENTAL ACTIONS FORMATION AT FOREIGN SPEECH PERCEPTION AND GENERATION

The article analyses the scientific approaches in the study of students’ linguistic competence. The study of cognitive features of the formation of mental actions in the perception and generation of speech in the process of teaching a foreign language in higher educational institutions has been carried out. The original method of comparing individual and socially developed cognitive schemes has been considered. Comparison of schemes allows revealing typological peculiarities of students in correlation with the breadth of their semantic and cognitive orientation, advantages in choosing methods of development of speech competence and the progress of cognitive and personal development. A set of diagnostic methods has been developed, allowing them to be exteriorized, compared and reflected in graphic and digital form for computer processing by methods of statistical correlation factor analysis. It has been determined that the orientation on the use of psychological mechanisms in the perception and generation of foreign language speech significantly increases the efficiency of the educational process among students.
