Abstract

The article reviews the results of the sociological survey conducted at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Psychology of Baku State University. It is revealed that there are great opportunities for improvement in the methodology of conducting and organizing the independent work. The paper emphasizes the role of the teacher's
personality, as well as the student's interest in individual subjects, which affects the level and quality of the independent work. The students' interest in performing independent work is formed not only by obtaining high marks, but also at the expense of the teacher’s motivational approach.
